How Commited.me works

Five steps. No subscription. No tracking app. Just you, your word, and real money on the line.

01

✍️Name your goal

Write a specific, time-bound goal. Not "lose weight" — but "run 3 times a week for 30 days starting May 1st". Specificity is half the battle.

02

💳Stake money on it

Choose an amount that stings if you lose it, but won't ruin you. $50–$300 works for most goals. This is your skin in the game.

03

Live with the deadline

Your deadline is locked on the server the moment you commit. It doesn't move. The timer runs. You have a public page you can share.

04

🔔Get the deadline reminder

When your deadline arrives, you get an email asking you to report the outcome honestly.

05

Report and resolve

Succeed → we refund your full stake, typically within 5–10 business days. Fail → your stake is donated to a charity of your choice.

Why it actually works

Four behavioral principles firing at once.

🧠

Loss aversion

The pain of losing $100 is roughly twice as powerful as the pleasure of gaining $100. Behavioral economist Daniel Kahneman proved it. We put that asymmetry to work for you.

🔒

Locked deadlines

Deadlines you can move always get moved. Yours can't. The date is fixed at commit time and never changes — which is exactly why procrastination stops working.

👥

Social accountability

Public commitments are completed 65% more often than private ones. Share your commitment page and give someone else a window into your progress.

🎯

Honor system

We don't verify your outcome. We trust you. The mechanism works precisely because it's real — and most people are too honest with themselves to break it.
